The Slithering March
Conflict at the Capitol
Congress is meeting to sign into effect the 50-State Initiative bill proposed by Senator Arthur Woodman that will mobilize state-operated super-powered teams to combat local terrorist threats.
This is of course interrupted when HYDRA attacks the capitol. Countless HYDRA agents swarm the place, led into battle by Crossbones, Bravo, Carmilla Black, and Host.
Wonder Woman drops in to intervene.
The Defender of DC puts herself between HYDRA and the senators and warns them away while they can still walk away. Crossbones steps up, unafraid. He’s tangled with Captain America, so he’s gung-ho on going toe-to-toe with a woman in a star-spangled bikini. Emphasis on gun. He snaps off shots at Wonder Woman who deflects them with her bracers. But the hail of bullets is enough of a distraction for Carmilla Black to charge in and catch Diana with her poison stinger, which slowly wears the Amazon down. Codename: Bravo and Host also try and take the opening but can’t penetrate Wonder Woman’s defenses and the Amazon quickly tears into the zombie dirt pile that is Host, knocking him unconscious.
Realizing their combined might may not be enough to deter the capitol’s defender, the HYDRA villains turn their attention to the senators, capturing Diana’s attention and repeatedly pulling the hero between her and their attacks, wearing her down further.
Eventually, Wonder Woman is spread too thin and bullets find their way to some of the senators grievously wounding some while allowing Carmilla to get a cheap shot, impaling Wonder Woman on her poisonous stinger. HYDRA forces descend on Wonder Woman hoping to finish her off, but she turns the tide, sidestepping a stinger jab and using it to stick Bravo.
With dwindling numbers, HYDRA again attempts to bring down the fleeing senators, and again, Diana intervenes, stepping between them and the wall of gunfire.
Needing to end the fight quickly, Wonder Woman puts all her might behind blows, dropping both Carmilla and Bravo while the senators all make it inside the capitol.
Poisoned, shot, and battered, Diana is left with just Crossbones who is more than happy to trade blows. He gets the early advantage, knocking her down and pummeling her. The Amazon makes it to her feet only to take a few bursts of submachine gun fire to the gut. With her final push, she grabs Crossbones by the firearms and uses them to drive him into the ground over and over until consciousness leaves him.
With a ragged breath, Wonder Woman takes a seat at the Capitol steps, nursing her wounds while Code: Blue comes in to secure the villains and tend to the wounded.
