It was the 1980s and Reed Richards’ Future Foundation sought to find utopia through science. It started with an audacious plan, even by “Mister Fantastic” standards. He and his family would embark on a transdimensional fact-finding mission, observe and study the best an infinite number of realities could offer, and bring them back to develop the perfect society.
However, something went terribly wrong. The Richards family never returned. Instead, an alien from beyond the stars descended to Earth, calling himself Superman.
As several decades passed, time moved on without the Richards. The Future Foundation moved on, dragging the world toward their founder’s vision, albeit with less dimensional-shattering exploration. Superman has become a beacon of hope as have the countless other heroes unknown before the Richards’ disappearance.
An Existence Tattered
It took years for anyone to notice, but whatever Reed did created instability in this dimension. Reality is splitting and whatever is on the other side is spilling out, from all directions. The Beyond. The Green Door. Darkforce. It’s all leaking into this existence.
Some effort has been put into stemming the tide—S.W.O.R.D., Alpha and Gamma Flight, Future Foundation, Challengers of the Unknown, and Midnight Suns have all mobilized to push it back, unsure if it’s all too little too late.
