Commander Overlay

Much of Marvel Multiverse RPG (as well as many TTRPGs) is focused on how player characters perform in combat. This leaves social encounters or downtime almost exclusively at the discretion of the Narrators. To address this, and give players options for downtime, side quests, leveling, and more, Absolute Overpower uses the concept of the Commander Overlay.

Colossus

Colossus is the epitome of a tank. His metal skin gives him sturdy damage reduction complementing his high resilience, rendering most incoming attacks useless. His offense kit is stacked with a bunch of short-range melee attacks takign advantage of his super-strength and ability to toss foes around and destroy the battlefield around him. Once Colossus gets dug in, there’s no moving him around, making him an impenetrable damage sponge and wall to put between allies and attackers.

Man-Thing

Man-Thing is a front-line character that serves as the team brute and berserker. His kit can and should be rounded out with magic abilities that allow him to “burn” those who know fear at his touch.

Wonder Woman

True to form, Wonder Woman is a powerhouse. She comes equipped with mythic strength, damage reduction, and several ways to hurt nearby enemies. Her lasso offers some opportunities to move and control the battlefield.

Raids and Super Dungeons

Raids and Super Dungeons offer challenging battles and engagements against high-ranking Bosses and unyielding Dungeons. Players from all campaigns can band together to defeat these imposing threats and will be rewarded with unique traits, tags, items, and more.

Superteams: Avengers and Justice League

Absolute Overpower is taking an MCU approach to the “big” superteams. They don’t exist until a big enough threat warrants them coming together. The Justice League or the Avengers are the “all-stars” of their universe, Earth’s Mightiest heroes, and that’s exactly how we want it to feel, here.

Locations Across Realities

So much of a superhero character is the world they inhabit. It’s impossible to think of Batman without thinking of Gotham. Or Superman without Krypton. The set-up for Absolute Overpower is that this reality is the Marvel 616 Universe, and while we know characters from DC Comics have found their way here, what about their locations?

America Chavez

America is a powerful skirmisher. She uses her speed and portals to move into position and deliver devastating melee attacks. Unlike some skirmishers, however, America has high damage reduction so she can take advantage of status effects and deliver heavy damage with reckless abandon.

Green Lantern (Stewart)

John Stewart as Green Lantern indexes on offensive uses of his Green Lantern energy while mixing in lifelike constructs and illusions, making him a powerful caster. He can spread around status effects and imprison foes giving himself or others more dominance over the battlefield rendering enemies unable to attack.

Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler makes for a fantastic skirmisher. He uses his teleportation to dot around the battlefield closing long distances and putting himself in advantageous positions to strike. His ability to blink in and out of this plane makes him difficult to strike or pin down which is good given his relatively weak durability. He can use flurries and attacks against multiple opponents before it’s time to BAMF away!
